Having the effects of colonization as well as living in an era where traditions are starting to lose their relevance in todays current society, it leaves many people such as myself at an impasse. As a person living in this time period where the West and modernism have taken over in many aspects of our lives, I do not wish to lose my connection with my culture.

There is a consistent conflict between wanting to immersive oneself in their culture and wanting to be perceived as the standard person that takes part in the modern aspects of life.
