ABOUT ME

Chiedza Kaseke is a South African born Zimbabwean designer who draws inspiration from her homestead, ancestors and culture while creating a future that she hopes for. She uses her experience growing up in the diaspora, cultural motifs, objects and art practices to inform her designs. This allows her to explore ways in which she can rebuild the weakening connection between this generation and culture. She designs to allow people to re-embrace their legacy’s in the setting of a future. A future where people are able to embody their roots while moving forward into an optimistic era.

"My vision is to create a space and a form of expression for people who want to revive their origins and their identity through fashion to signify that cultural importance. To share my fashion as a safe form of expression for this generation in order for them to regain their roots and identity. By returning back to my origins, I want to look at how my ancestors lived, the environment they were in and integrate that with aspects of the future in order to still have relevancy with the changing times. I want to make my vision of bringing culture and the future together realized."
